Flexible Spending Accounts revisited

Hi,
We currently have a Medical FSA in place. The wife of one of our Sr. VPs just gave birth to their first child. Having never had a child before, he is trying to "guess"-timate what the annual out-of-pocket medical expenses might be for the normal well-baby check ups and whatever else goes into the medical care of a newborn. Do any of you know of anywhere I might find an approximate benchmark, a ballpark figure? Of course, expenses will vary depending on the amount of required copays, geographical region, etc. I've never seen anything in print, but it never hurts to ask.
Thanks!

  • It really depends on how much your insurance covers. We have well baby care in our policy, so employees only pay the office visit copay. You are safe to use that and just multiply it by the number of visits for the remainder of the year. It is always more than you estimate! It is amazing how these little bundles of joy eat at you wallet.
