Company SponsoredRecognition Parties/Events

Does anyone have a policy or guidelines around this kind of thing that you'd be willing to share?... I'm thinking of the kind of event where management sposors dinner, dancing, entertainment at a hotel or some banquet facility. Generally companies hold this as an annual event that to recognize special accomplishments, milestone anniversaries, etc? I know some companies have pretty elaborate(expensive) events which is want we'd like to avoid.

  • We usually do an annual event like this after Christmas when everyone has time to enjoy it! It is at a nice hotel and we usually don't do dinner, but have heavy snacks (can't spell that other word) and have a disc jockey. We also serve beer and wine in moderation. We cut out the heavy booze because of liability. We also furnish rides home if needed. This can still be a very expensive undertaking, so be prepared for several thousand dollars in expenditures, just for food We usually use this time to give out longevity awards, etc. Be careful of all this "office stuff" as it is real boring for the spouses and/or guests. (We overdid this last year). Most people are there to drink and dance and have a good time.
