Union Organizing on private property

I have not dealt with a Union environment so I need help on this question. I have gotten word from other HR folks in my area that an external union is going to company parking lots involved in our industry and putting union organizing materials on the cars of employees. Is this legal? Since we are private property, can I go out and escort them off our premises?

Putting union materials on employees cars would not interfere with the company's work, so, IMO, if you were to escort the organizers off the premises, you would be in violation of NLRA Section 8(a) which states an employer who interferes with union organizing efforts would be committing an unfair labor practice.

Additionally, the money spent to talk to a labor attorney regarding this would be money well spent. . IMHO. .

Amen to what Sunny said. You really need to make certain that you stay within the law when dealing with a possible union organization. There are so many things you can't do.
