Tip offf - Possible Illegal Immigrant Employee

An employee's (soon to be ex?) wife called to tip me off that the EE"s I-9 credentials were invalid and he is here illegally. The EE provided an Illinois Driver License and an SS Card for his I-9. I now know the DR is a fake. What are my employer rights / responsibilities in dealing with this...can I ask for additional documentation.
