Verify employment - out on state disability

An employee is out due to a work related injury; someone calls to verify his employment. How would you respond?

I am thinking he is currently employed, but not currently working.

  • I would not give any more information than that he is employed. And I wouldn't give that without his signed release. It is wise to Be very careful who you tell that someone is injured or off from work on disability.




  • Why not tell them you will get back to them. Then contact the employee and ask him/her what sort of response they want given. These things are most generally some kind of credit check. As long as it is truthful, I would have no problem in giving the response that the employee asks for with the level of detail they want.
