Verify employment - out on state disability

An employee is out due to a work related injury; someone calls to verify his employment. How would you respond?

I am thinking he is currently employed, but not currently working.

    I would not give any more information than that he is employed. And I wouldn't give that without his signed release. It is wise to Be very careful who you tell that someone is injured or off from work on disability.

    Why not tell them you will get back to them. Then contact the employee and ask him/her what sort of response they want given. These things are most generally some kind of credit check. As long as it is truthful, I would have no problem in giving the response that the employee asks for with the level of detail they want.
