New York State Regulations for Maternity Leave

Hello:

Does anyone have a website regarding maternity leave for New York State. I have an employee who wants to leave two weeks prior to her maternity leave due date. Our policy procedure warrants that a pregnant employee begins her maternity leave on STD four weeks prior her due date and carries on four weeks after the due date unless her physician states otherwise.

How do you handle your maternity leave? This employee wants to add two weeks at the end of her leave in ordere to extend her time.

We have FMLA and if their doctor confirms they are temporarily disabled, they get STD pay.

We extend leave if the doctor authorizes it. In every case we've had where the expectant mother started her leave early, it was due to complications and the doctor took her out of work. STD started at that time.
