Dog Boarding

I have an employee that is a buyer for our company. She lives alone with her dog. We are looking at new vendors and requested that she visit them and check out their operation.
She flew out there and spent the week visiting with several of them. When she submitted her expenses, she included a bill for boarding her dog. What do other companies do in such a case?
What if a sales rep submits a bill for child care? Any comments?

House sitters, taxi's for kids to get to soccer practice, dog boarding, etc are all the responsibility of the EE.
I wouldn't expect my employer to pay for my child care if they sent me somewhere. It was my choice to have a child just as it is hers to have a dog and she is responsible for it's care, not the employer.
But, windy one, to answer your question, would "muffled laughter" be an appropriate response?
If this was an exception and the person was told she would not have to travel and then some exceptions were made, that could be a different storey. However, if I was her, I would have arranged this before I left, not when I filled out expense account. (Also, I can't believe that she doesn't have friends who would have arranged to keep her pet. Also, if you agreed to pay for the boarding, I would think you would only owe the time that she would not normally be at work, which would be at night, not the time she was normally not at home???)
Good luck. Pet owners (which I am one) sometimes can't see past their love for their animal and are sometimes better to it than a child. (This I am not.)
