Using Fleet Trucks for Commuting

We presently allow our field service technicians to take the company truck home and use it for commuting back and forth to work. This works well for both, employees and employer, because the service tech will sometimes go right to the job site from home. Plus our service techs are "on call" from time to time. My question is does anyone out there have a policy regarding how far an employee can live from work in a situation like this? When we interview for new service techs, we do consider how far the person lives from work. With the price of gas, we don't want our techs living too far away. We are even thinking of coming up with some kind of incentive for those who live close to work. Does anyone have a similar situation?
