Performance evaluation training

Our firm conducts formal reviews in the late spring, and we conducted supervisory training classes ("Writing and Adiministering Employee Performance Appraisals")last year for the first time in a long time. I'd like to do a refresher, and was hoping someone had a cool idea on an exercise we might incorporate into the workshop. I know many companies out there have moved away from the traditional yearly review, but that is still part of our culture and they actually work pretty well for us.
