We allow employees to review their personnel files. Must we allow them to copy the contents as well?

In Pennsylvania you must allow ee's to view their personnel files but you do not have to give them copies. If I were you I would make sure the "no copy" policy was a written one included in your ee handbook so it's clear from the get go.

Although in PA you don't have to let employee's copy the Personnel file, you do have to let them take notes on the contents of the Personnel File. I wouldn't recommend letting ee's copy it. I agree that it should be stated in the PPM that you do not allow ee's to copy.
