Is it a requirement (or who is required) to include the statement that our company is an equal opportunity employer in a hiring ad in the local newspaper?
We are a government contractor and as part of our affirmative action plan we are required to include that language in any classified ads we place. When we fax our copy of the ad to the newspaper, we type that language in as part of the ad; it is not automatically inserted by the publication we advertise in.
Our local newspaper ads it in. We have no Govt contracts. I think it is good practice to include this wording. If it is not included and someone sues because they were not hired, rest assured it will be used against you.
