SABBATICAL POLICY

We are considering a sabbatical policy. It will be a part of our LOA policy. We will limit it to one year and for furthering education purposes only.
Do any of you have experience (war stories) with this? This is new for us and none of our close competition is offering anything like this.
I know it is common in a university setting but how about healthcare?
