IS network administrator

We currently have a network administrator in house that has access to all files on our system. I am wondering how other companies go about handling the access to confidential files (particularly in HR). Do you use a confidentiality sign off or do you not allow access to some files?

  • My experience with I.T./I.S. having access to confidential computer files has not created much of a burden, no leaked confidentiality with my experience. No, we did not have the IT department sign confidentiality agreements, but in their job description it mentioned something along the lines of confidential information and that it must be kept confidential.
If information has leaked, you will find out at least through the grapevine, if so, you will need to investigate where the information came from and proceed with progressive discipline once culprit is discovered.
