Evaluations for Supervisors

How do you handle evaluations for supervisors? Do you have staff involved? Do you have a special form?

  • Our supervisors are evaluated by their supervisors. Sometimes that means the Board of County Commissioners. We use a form for FLSA exempt management employees. Our policy says a satisfactory evaluation must be submitted prior to a pay increase.

  • The review form for supervisors is ususally different from the regular review form. Minimally, there should be a section on "Development of Subordinates" so that supervisor are held responsible for training and passing on their knowledge to others in the company. In other words, the company grades managers on their performance in developing their replacement, so they can be promoted, or for helping the company develope more people with management potential. That's one significant difference. I would be glad to discuss this with you at length. You can call me at 615-371-8200.
