Simple Assault Charge

We are a long-term care organization in a state requiring background checks to aid in the protection of the elderly. A recent new hire's background check came back clean, however, just recently he was charged with simple assault by shoving an individual and then hitting him on the back of the head several times while he was down. The employee was released on bail.  Because he has not officially been charged with an offense yet, must be keep him employed?
