I grew up in a rural area of West Virginia. Our town was small, we did not have any traffic lights, but we did have one yield sign. My mom started the town library in the basement of the barber shop. We had a small grocery store (you would not da…

I have Wife 2.0 (not 2nd wife, she signed up for automatic upgrades) with spam blocker and that intercepts all inappropriate emails. I am not sure how this made it past the fire wall, but I have to delete it, or risk having all of my privileges rev…

Speaking of lawyers: Took the family to Savannah over the July 4th holiday last year. I am a big history nut and had finished reading a series of historical fiction novels by Eugena Price on Savannah. I learned on the historic city tour that the…

I would opt for private accounts. Even if you take an agressive track with your portfolio, in the end I would suspect that the long term performance would definitely surpass what the government would give you. Plus, if anything happened, there wou…

I had to find a job that paid me to talk. I kept getting in trouble at other jobs. x:D

I am sure that the government has already set a plan in motion for Woody and Buzz Lightyear to lead a team of special forces made up of green army men to rescue Cody from any harm. Does anyone know of Michael Moore's whereabouts during the time t…

Two guys - one named Don one named Ray, on the Forum, they liked to play. They ribbed and they jibed, on their wit they relied and made us all laugh on Tuesday.

I had to send this to me lovely wife. With all of the extra hours I have worked due to the end of the year/first of the year reports etc., she has been joking with me about having a girlfriend! I know she will get a kick out of this. Thanks for s…

I'm sure it won't take long for you to whip UP something!

This is great Popeye! I can think of a few...... Don't we all try to get a leg UP on our competition? In a contest you try to show UP your opponent. Each morning when I leave for work I back UP my car out of the garage. When we give things ou…

Don, Don, of course that is fact. Hendrix had his headband, Dizzy had his hanky. Why else would his eyes protrude so far out of his head! Iam sure I don;t even have to comment on Chuck Mangione!

It's apparent the trombone is slated for the same fate as dodge ball. As a brass instrument lover (Trumpet player) myself, I can honestly say that I appreciate the warm sound of the t-bone. It has definitely been under rated for many years.

I love it when they are late. It's always I got lost, got stopped by a train...use Mapquest or fing the facility the day before and PLEASE leave early to account for traffic, etc. I also enjoy when they bring their kids to the interview.

I'm not sure how many of you have heard of the Glenn Beck Show, he is a syndicated conservative talk show host (radio) out of PA. I get him on of a local station here in FL. He did a tour during the Presidential Election called the Real America To…

Here, the large temp agencies perform testing for employers. We have used Adecco Kelly Services, stc., to administer clerical tests, physical agility testing, etc. You may want to contact one of these in your area to see if they offer this service…

I am not sure what you mean by "locking" the form. You can protect the form, where there are certain fields that cannot be changed, but where people can still enter information. Once the information is completed, they can run a spell check on the …

We use a set shift differential of $.35 per hour. This is applied to their rate of pay, even though some hours occur prior to the "midnight hour." We do not have a rotation, you move from the second shift to the first through seniority, so for us,…

I agree with POPEYE, we would terminate for falsifying time records. Whenever I start to feel blue, I start breathing again!

We have a vacation advance policy. We recently switched from ees earning vacation time in week blocks (1 week at the first of the year, 1 week on July 1st. If additional vacation time, you could earn a week around the end of September, and the las…

There is nothing that says how you have to pay for holidays. We changed the way we pay in 1992. Anyone with a hire date prior to 1/01/02 receives time and a half for working on a holiday. After that date, they get $1.00 more an hour. We have hol…

Our manufacturing departments use KRONOS and have been extremely happy with the program. Our retail operation and support departments use People Planner and have had good results with that program as well. The main thing is to find a system that s…

We only guarantee hours for full-time ees (40 hours). Part-time ees are told upfront that we do not guarantee a set number of hours for them. We explain that hours are assigned based on business needs and the ee's availability. If they are availa…

Not in my opinion. Overtime is for hours WORKED over 40 hours. Travel stipends (reimbursement, expenses) are paid because the work takes the ee i=out into the field. Because of laws, some are counted toward wages and are taxable, but I don't see …

Maybe some more background will help. Why are they living in this house? What do they do while living there? Are they required to live there for a week at a time? What job do these ees hold? What are you currently doing?

I have been researching an issue very similar to this. I looked at the FLSA language on the DOL's website. Reviewing the actual regs did not give much help, it talks about garnishing wages as a result of some settlement (award through litigation, …

Our payroll is centralized. Due to the size of the company, we cut checks several days before they are released to ees. On the check it has the date the check was printed and the date it is to be issued. As far as I know, the only thing that matt…
