8/80 rule

As an healthcare facility in New Jersey, we are thinking about utilizing the 8/80 rule to minimize overtime obligations.  Does anyone have any advise on the best way to implement this transition from the traditional OT after 40?

  • I would suggest providing a memo explaining how overtime would be paid for all work over 8 hours per day or over 80 hours within a two week period, and have the employees sign the agreement (an post it on your Intranet).  This can be a cost saver for employers of hospitals and residential care establishes.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

    Once your time & attendance and HRIS/Payroll systems are ready to handle these new rules, you may want to implement immediately post EE training.
