We do not have to use progressive discipline but we generally do. Our handbook states: There is no progressive discipline policy in the Library. However, a progressive procedure may be followed where deemed necessary by the department head. The Library reserves the right to take any form of disciplinary action against any employee at any time. In general, types of disciplinary actions which may be taken in regard to regular employees, as determined appropriate by the supervisor depending on the particular facts" After that we follow the logical steps listed by others above.
does anyone have any progressive discipline policies, or procedures they would be willing to share. If not, any suggestions? thanks
Hi,
You can find a corrective action policy here on HRLaws.
This policy is also available on HRHero.
Hope this helps.
Sharon
PS: I agree with the others, be sure to include language that allows for by-passing the disciplinary steps when appropriate.
