Right on both counts - my mistake on the lyric. For bonus points, what was the title of the song? Hint: The title of the song is mentioned at no time anywhere in the lyrics. x:-)
It's probably been in the soundtrack of more films about the Vietnam War protest era than any other song. For those of us of a certain age and persuasion, it was the soundtrack of our lives and remains very evocative.
I'm still thinking about Smace's song; it kinda starts out like "Gloria," but I guess it's not Gloria if it's about Rosie.
I cheated a little. I recognized it, but couldn't put my finger on the final info...at least, I didn't think I could do it fast enough to get the answer up before anyone else. x:D
Sometimes I feel I've got to Run away I've got to Get away From the pain that you drive into the heart of me The love we share Seems to go nowhere And I've lost my light For I toss and turn I can't sleep at night
Good again! Although they had success with Back in Black after Bonn died, they were never really the same... The Jack, If You Want Blood, Let There Be Rock, Problem Child, Dirty Deeds. You just can't match those songs' poetic flow.
Whenever I hear this song anymore I always think of the Coneheads (movie). Remember the scene with the alien monster? Dan Akroyd sang this while he lined up his golf shot and killed the thing.

I was thinking of "April, Come She Will" but I think you're right about Scarborough Fair too. Let's call it a draw. (But I think they played "Mrs. Robinson" when Ben was trying to get to Elaine's wedding.)
By the way, I hear the author is broke and writing a sequel.

Here's one that I'll bet my next paycheck NO ONE will get (No fair googling for it, either):
He blesses the boys,
As they stand in line.
The smell of gun grease,
and their bayonets they shine.
He's there to help them,
All that he can.
To make them feel wanted
He's a good holy man...

SMace, your song is Whole Lotta Rosie by AC/DC.
Wasn't the lead singer of ACDC a dude with curly hair, tank top (generally) and an english driving cap? He looked more like a cabbie than a rock star.
The guitarist was named Angus, right? Dressed like a schoolboy.
The drummer looked like the bailiff from Night Court. Huge bald guy.
I am dredging this stuff up from the dark corners of my early MTV watching days.
>was the member of the band that sang that song?
I'm going to guess Bonn Scott. My childhood memories start with Back in Black as I was born in the early 70s.

1. What did Benjamin (Dustin) get for a birthday present later that same summer?
2. What song was being played while he was driving north from LA to Berkeley?
This should separate the true Graduate mavens from the wannabe's!
2. Mrs. Robinson
2. Try again.
By the way, I hear the author is broke and writing a sequel.
