We sure do speak of them a lot, considering we do not speak of them.
Your 4th suggestion sounds very Monty Python. Or very Wayne's World, if you just add some punctuation.
A great challenge of mine is that I have trouble focusing on the content of a message if the grammar is a wreck. I have a compulsion to edit stuff to make it readable.
Years ago, I took a writing composition class. I was feeling quite full of myself when the professor told me it was very well written, technically. Then my ego deflated when he added "and it's the most boring thing I've ever read." He said he'd rather see more excitement and less "perfection." The story of my life. x;-)
I went to an employer who didn't really want me to think for myself... just to execute whatever directives corporate set out. They wouldn't pay for any subscriptions, memberships, or anything else. They also wouldn't let me access this site or even SHRM's site from work. I was also working under a restriction that called for my termination if I was ever found to post anything related to company information of a "sensitive" nature, which would pretty much be everything. So, rather than pay to renew my HR Hero subscription out of my own pocket, be able to access it only from home, and to risk my job everytime I posted, I went into hiding.
I guess you can tell how happy I was working there. :P
Two reasons. First and foremost, the company I had been with was starting to lean on me to do some things that shouldn't be done... at least in the eyes of OSHA and DOL. When I sensed they were growing weary of my refusals, I figured I'd better start looking. So I left a M-F, 8-5 job for a rotating shift, work every holiday, 55-70 hour-a-week hellhole, lured there by the bonus program. I was eligible for about $20k in bonuses and incentives each year. The first quarter I received about $3k. During the next few months, they fired or transferred the rest of the management team at my location, eliminated stock options, and took HR Managers out of one of the remaining incentive programs. During my last 2.5 years there, I bonused a total of $400.
Well welcome back Frank. I took a haitus myself from the forum when I found I was too busy to post and needed to make some budget cuts.
I came back after the troubles Ray A has mentioned and those we never speak of had left and created their own forum.
Honestly, I think there is plenty of room for multiple HR forums. This one requires a subscription and is moderated. The other one is is essentially free and lacks a hall monitor.
I think its fair to say that some people prefer this forum and some prefer the other one, or the SHRM forums, or the Workforce forums, etc.
Actually, I don't think the other one is free. I was able to look at the threads, but to post anything myself required Gene to "approve" me. That, it turn, appears to be part of the $25 membership fee.
Hi Frank, Just wanted to correct your information on TheHRForum the membership fee is optional and you can post even though you are not paying the fee. All you need to do is set up a profile.
Frank you are welcome even without your pants on. As far as persecution I think it goes both ways and you are right after almost 2 yrs it is still a sore and sometimes humorous subject.

And why did you stop posting? Why wouldn't anyone want to hang out with us?

Whatever keeps people off the streets, right?

Gene (formerly TN HR) did a great job creating his forum. Its very easy to use and has some nice features.
I think some of our members here are "bi-forum". Not that there is anything wrong with that.
Regardless, I still think their persecution complex is somewhat humorous.

You don't get invitations like that every day, Frank.

That could be a great side business for me. Join forums for various groups, then extort money to leave and join a rival forum. Thanks, Paul!

I could go on and on...
Brain: "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
Pinky: "Yea, but how we gonna get the monkey in the wet suite?"
Pinky: "What are we gonna do tonight, Brain?"
I thought liberals were supposed to be sensitive and tolerant?
