What did I miss?

I've been out of the office a few days recovering from some minor surgery. When I clicked on the read new button, there was just too much content to work through and still get through the in basket and voice mails.

Judging from all the topics, looks like you guys had lots to talk about.

From my perspective, the Olympics filled up the time and have been great to watch. Some surprises and disappointments but all in all, they show the triumph of discipline and dedication from participants all over the world. What a great venue.

Yes, the olympics have been very entertaining. I've especially been riveted to the track 'n field events. Probably because I can't do any of them...!

I can do some of the events. However, the one inch pole vault and 2 inch broad jump were not good enough to get me on the Olympic team. I did, however, manage to do the hurdles in under 5 hours.

Ladders are illegal. So I had to use a forklift. Fortunately, OSHA did not send inspectors to the Olympic Trials otherwise I might have been fined for standing on the forks.

When I saw the long jumpers jump 27 feet last night, I measured how long that would be in my apartment. It's all the way from my front door, across the living room and down the hall. x:o

I can barely RUN that far, much less jump it. Talk about a humbling experience.

Good one James. Did you see the commercial about the 4 x 4 foot relay? The athletes are all lined up one in front of the other and when the start gun goes off they just hand the baton back and forth. Of course one team (I think it was Jamaica) dropped the baton. For some reason, those are the guys I relate to.

I am surprised the gestapo did not find that one offensive and start another round extremely interesting dialogue. Oh well, the convention and the Olympics are much more entertaining.

Marc, is there truth to the rumor that your minor surgery was restorative, after your pocket protector failed and a pencil penetrated your chest wall? Accountant types are notorious for sharp pencils and pocket protectors. Far be it from me to spread this rumor though. x:D

My wife won't let me get into great detail but to put those nasty rumors to rest, just let me say that not all accountants can "do it with balance."

Either of the options involving those tools may have involved a more comfortable recovery. I don't want to find out though. It was Umbilical Hernia Repair. Very small, thankfully, and just a couple of stitches, but for several days afterward every time you move, your abdominal muscles scream loudly - don't move!

The Doc said lift nothing heavier than a remote for 8 weeks (I only had to give an extra $5 for that order).
