I got an e-mail from a friend warning against the dangers of credit theives. I'm not sure if this actually happened to someone but her word of caution was beware the person behind you in a store when you take out your credit card - he or she can easily snap a pic of your name and account number. I don't take mine out until I am ready to hand it to the cashier and if someone is too close to me in line I ask them to step back - I throw in a facial twitch so they agree its a good idea. x;-)

If some stranger gets too close to me, I just turn around and give them my "what the hell are you doing?" look. They usually back off.

Other than that, I find that look that Don D talks about works in places besides the checkout counter line. I wish I could remember why it was important.
