Try the hurricanes at Pat O'Brien's. If that's not enough to fill you up, they serve great cheese popcorn with them.....

If you're just looking for good 'ol American fare (& a great atmosphere) try Margaritaville. Nothin' like a Cheeseburger in Paradise & don't forget those french-fried potatoes!!! =P~

For great coffee and beignets, go to Cafe Du Monde in the French Quarter. Absolutely to die for!

Commander's Palace in the 'District...not too far from the quarter. It's wonderful and not too touristy; Antoines if you're feeling humble. Some of the "famous" places are awful.

The Cajun Cabin on Bourban Street is wonderful and I too recommend Margaritaville Cafe's Cheeseburger in Paradise.

Don - you're so lucky to be in New Orleans - I'm totally jealous! When I was in New Orleans - I ended up walking into any place that sold food & bought the house special (it works in Europe too) - this way you get the best food the place cooks.

Well, I ain't there yet. I go for a 6 day safety/OSHA seminar in a week or so. Somebody has to make these sacrifices.....6 nights in a Bourbon Street Hotel with a wallet full of company credit cards. The upside is that you guys will get a break from me.

Please, please, please - have a fried shrimp po-boy for me! Acme Oyster House (one street over from Bourban) is a good place, but just about anyone in NO can fry one up just right. Crispy french bread, hot battered (never breaded) shrimp, remoulade sauce. Yum.

Also Mother's on Canal (I think) is known for its drippy roast beef poboy.

Houston's on St. Charles.

House of Blues on Decatur.

Mr. B's Bistro in the Quarter.

For a real breakfast, go to Joe's Po-boys in the Quarter, you stand in line and get a plate full of eggs, bacon, toast and coffee. Just what you need after a night in the quarter.

If I remember correctly, Margaritaville is down past the French Market. Anybody out there know?
