The Forum or Bonbons? You decide!

I came home early today because I was "in the field" all day and it wasn't worth driving 35 miles to the office to spend an hour with voice mail, only to turn around and drive another 35 miles home.

So here I am, 4:15PM on a Friday afternoon. My house is spotless because the cleaners were here yesterday, so I don't have ANY housework to do. (Before you roll your eyes, the cleaning service is cheaper than you'd think) My kids and husband won't be home for another two hours. I didn't think to bring any paperwork home with me yesterday, so I have nothing "urgent" to do.

So... Most would probably rent a good movie, break out the Bonbons and veg on the couch for a few hours.

I, however, am catching up on my Forum reading. So what am I saying? I ENJOY THE FORUM MORE THAN I ENJOY MOVIES AND BON BONS!

I was going to "subject" this post as "What is WRONG with me?" then changed it because nothing is WRONG, I just truly appreciate the forum!

No fever, but it's now 5:30, and I'm still here. My husband just got home, found me on the Forum and decided to wander out to the driveway to chat with neighbors rather than attempting to convince me to log off.

Wise man...

Keep in mind I was on vacation last week in western Nebraska, no access to computers, and I will be struggling to get reasonably caught up for at least another week! Please also keep in mind that my day started at 5AM when a local news station began their morning show at one of our preschools. My fabulous (not being sarcastic, she IS fantastic) Director of Operations does this sort of thing for positive publicity for our company.

Maybe I AM insane. Lack of sleep does that to me. Must come from my Ops days in hospitality. You can relate? x:D

Okay, I'll buy in. It's 6:15, my boyfriend is off having a beer with the boys, my son who came in from Oakland is taking a nap before the evening commences, I should be balancing my checkbook - and I'm here. So there's a couple of us, and we seem to be firmly stuck in the west with Beagle included!

And HRQ, who do you have cleaning your house in the Valley that's inexpensive? Mine is not, so a phone number would be appreciated!

OK, it's 12:30 Saturday in the afternoon and I'm on the forum, too. But, I have a good excuse. The computer is in the only air conditioned room in the house, so I log on the cool off and check out what is happening on a couple different forums. I am hooked.

And Leslie, if you check out this thread again, I want you to know that this one and only air conditioned room, is primarily my wife's sewing room - she has an alterations business she runs from the home. So, even though I jokingly referred to her as the "little woman" a couple weeks ago, she is special. The air is for her benefit.

Only five hours? Big deal! You had 3/4 of the waking day left; plenty of time to shine his shoes and straighten up his underwear drawer. And when was the last time you took a sharp instrument and plucked out all those little rocks between his tire treads. Is the honeymoon over or what? A good woman is getting hard to find.

I have two children: 22 month old and a 3 1/2 year old. Because they are such great "helpers", during a five-hour cleaning stint I would probably accomplish, maybe, doing the dishes. If I really worked hard.

I did have my boys help me scrub the kitchen floor once. Just gave 'em a bucket of water and some sponges and let 'em go at it! Nevermind that the carpet in the next room got soaked along the edges.

I had my children help once with scrubbing the floor also. They thought it was a clever idea to put SOS pads on the floor and skate around on them. Needless to say, my linoleum was never the same. SCRAPE SCRAPE SCRAPE

You reminded me of one of my fondest memories from my youth. When I was young (under 10) my sister (6 years older) would mop the kitchen floor with one of those old string mops. I can remember sitting on the mop while she dragged me all over the slick floor. Staying on was a real trick that I rarely accomplished. We did it until she was worn out. Ahhhh..what fun older sisters can be!

It's Monday and I have started my Smart One Tuna Noodle Casserole to heat. I brought a new mystery book to read but can't seem to get away from emailing and reading you all. So no bon bons or mystery for me - give me the forum!

Ray, I'd be "your little woman" if you air conditioned my room - and wouldn't mind if you called me that. (especially since it's going to hit 103 here today) Some people have no sense of humor - or give and take.

Zanne, you're on. One air conditioner coming right up. But, we'll skip the "little woman" name, get's me into too much trouble. And I get into enough trouble as it is.

It's cooler here in NY - mid 70's with low humidity. Good thing with all the power problems lately.

Us forum pro's can log on to the forum from anywhere, work, home - I even logged on last week from our corporate headquarters, when my boss wasn't hovering.

I just read this thread all the way through. I am still laughing. Everyone on here is great. Of course, like all of you, I guess I should be doing something that doesn't involve the forum, but it is to hard to get away.

I was sick for a few days last week, and the first thing I did was no, not check my voicemails (only had a thousand or so) nor did I go through my mail which was piled taller than me...no, I checked the forum to see what I missed! This is definitly one of my better addictions though. Although I have gained a few pounds from the recipes. Come to think about it, maybe this is my worst addiction....!!!

Last time I went in for one of those annual proctoscope things, I looked up and saw the monitor and asked the doctor if he could turn it to The Forum while I was in the room. He wasn't amused. I woke up later and couldn't remember a thing. But, I think I dreamed about the Forum during the procedure. What is the psychological impact of that? Surely there must be one.

Y'all kept me up last night. I had a dream that all of us in the forum got together. Our nametags had our forum names. Don D. was the celebrity. He was sitting back in his chair while his adoring fans gathered around him in awe. What can I say? It was a dream.

My point is - this forum has gotten under my skin too if I'm dreaming about all of you.
