I'm sitting here snacking on a diet Coke & Honey Wheat Thins and I have to say, I'm as happy as can be. Just wondering what types of goodies make your day more enjoyable?
We have this little coffee area in our administration building. Stuff just shows up there. One day its doughnuts, the next day its chocolate marshmellow puffs, the next day maybe cookies, and so on...
Our pavlovian response is to just eat whatever is sitting there no questions asked. Could be poisoned. We don't care.
So, my favorite snack is whatever is currently sitting next to the coffee machine (which is nothing today).
(1) On a Saturday spin in the country (not on motorcycle) there is nothing better than three chicken wings and an ice cold beer.
(2) There's a BP station near Yazoo City in the MS Delta. They have one of those really old, old lunch counters where one can buy sliced sandwich meat, etc. I always stop and have the octagenarian make me a sandwich. She pops open a fresh loaf of today's bread, cuts me a thick slice of the freshest balogna and adds double mayo and mustard. It must be cut in half diagonally to rate really high, and wrapped in celophane. This is better than sex. Well.......maybe not.
(3) The other is something I have not found since I was maybe 12 years old. There was a neighborhood grocery that had these little round, packaged commercial cheese crackers. The crackers were just a bit larger than a quarter and were waffled with the tartest cheese ever. Boy do I miss those.
Thanks for asking.......now you've made me hungry!
Chocolate turtles and New York Cheesecake!! I just got back from New York and walked to the deli two nights in a row and ate cheesecake for dinner!! Bad nutrician, but wonderful for the soul!
Margaret: There is actually hidden justification in your post. The walk to the deli and back burned exactly the same omount of calories and carbs that the cheesecake added, so it was a total wash. Good thinking!

Hey Margaret:
Hope this cheesecake was from Lindy's in New York City. They have the best cheesecake in the world! My father in law (God rest his soul) requested one of these the last time I visited NYC and I brought it back (frozen) on my lap the entire way home (this was pre 2001 before they searched cheesecakes for weapons). Anyay, I always remember fondly how happy he was to get this as one of his Christmas gifts!
Gosh, y'all have made me so hungry. .only 3 chicken wings Don? Anyway, my homemade-from -scratch -key lime cheesecake with fresh strawberries. Fortunately I have one in the fridge.
Very, very salty pretzels and an ice cold coke. Of course, my real favorite is caviar fresh from the jar (eaten with a mother-of-pearl spoon of course) and ice cold champagne, alas, my monthly pittance will not cover such luxuries.
I work in a natural foods store and our food fancies are defined by Vegans, vegetarians and omnivores. I am an amended omnivore, I'll eat everything so long as it doesn't have soy, seitan or is formed out of some mysterious gluten/tofu combination and shaped to resemble meat. I always laugh when we get our annual tofurkeys in November. I snack on beef jerky.
I wouldn't try to pronounce your November meal after a bourbon; but, I will promise to convert you if you'll come for a fried turkey and my famouns wild rice shrimp dish. It is perfectly acceptable for vegetarians to do this as long as they are across the state line. Promise.
I have heard about your fried turkey. Sounds great to me, I don't know what the other forumites are surprised about You wouldn't have to convert me. Thats real beef in my beef jerky.

Sounds like me. I'm a vegetarian (no meat). Everyone in my office tells jokes about me - that I don't eat anything with a face on it. Anyway, I love hummus with sunchips.
At work - pretzels and Diet Pepsi. Sometimes the little chocolate candy bars - But it must be a Mr. Goodbar!
Home - Loose meat sandwiches called "Made-Rites". Unfortunately, I gave up meat for Lent and haven't had one for a few weeks and now you're making me suffer!
Well, on a normal day I like a bowel of Rocky Road Ice Cream and strawberry lemonade. Right down the street from my work there is a Meat Market and let me tell you, there is NO restaurant I have found that has a better hamburger, or bar-b-que sandwich than a good meat market!!
However, that was on a normal day..I just found out I am a month 1/2 pregnant and for the last week have craved Wendy's chicken nuggets with extra ketchup. My husband has been out to get me some about 4 times this week!!! Didn't know I could be this hungry til now..ummmm..chicken nuggets...
Eclairs, Eclairs, Eclairs. Hope I spelled it right. Sad to say, I only eat one every 3 thousand miles. That's when my friend who works at a local garage picks my vehicle up for an oil change. He always brings me one. He loves them too!! He decided the last time that I had to start putting on more miles. He said the eclairs are too few and far between. :-)
I'm with bsa - just got back from a week in Mexico. The only meal I ate out - the mexican ama de casa that I was staying with could really cook - was two chicken enchiladas covered with salsa verde, frijoles, bolillo rolls and hot tea, all for $3.80.
What is my favorite snack food? Anything and Everything! Im one of those girls who goes from sweet to salty, sweet to salty, sweet to salty until I am satified one way or the other. My mom always called it "grazing". Well then, MOOOOOOOOO, it's time for my afternoon chocolate bar, or maybe some chips and onion dip?
