How did you find the forum?

I'm noticing more and more new names on the forum lately (welcome everyone) and I was just wondering how people found the forum? Is it word of mouth or from internet searches or by other means. I found it by doing a search for some info on language policies and I've been hooked ever since. I'm curious to know how some long term forumites found it too. Was Don just talking to himself over 2000 posts ago? This has become a valuable tool for me in my day to day duties as an HR professional, and I'm interested in seeing how you all came to be a part of it. Thanks.

I too was doing a routine search for HR information on the web and ended up at this site. My company also subscribes to the Ohio Employment Law Letter, so I felt safe signing on to this forum.

I was peforming internet search for HR key word items, seeking answers and input concerning a certain matter. I monitored the site for a couple of weeks, read most of the threads, then decided to participate. Since I have found the site, I use it daily!

Through the Arizona Employment Law Letter. Went searching to ask a question and found out I already belonged to the forum through virtue of the subscription. Been a forum junkie ever since.

I received a sample newsletter in the mail, subscribed and then went on the web site to take a look. I actually have been reading this forum for about 1 year, before joining a couple of months ago..

It's been so long I can't remember...or perhaps it's age and memory thing. We do get the Employment Law letter and think that started it. I do know I have been here since before 9-11 as I remember the discussions and had been for some time prior. Some of the players have changed, but not a lot. Don D was not around when I started.. I think Gillian and Hatchetman were. .maybe they remember. Hey Christy, when did this thing start anyway?

I believe it was October 2000 (?). It was in a different format then. We switched it over to the current format around March 2001, I think.

Had been receiving the Missouri Employment Law Letter for some time and just thought I would try it out one day. I really appreciated how all the HR folks from all over the nation and from so many types of industry were happy to pitch in to help one another. I can't seem to find the time to access the forum everyday, but I certainly enjoy doing so every chance I get. You can always find something of interest, from the very serious to the light hearted. One can refresh or learn anew so much just by reading the comments from all the others. So thank you to all of you for the help you give to others.

I've subscribed to NY Employment Law Letter for 4 years. I belong to other forums (music related) and after seeing the advertisements in the law letter every month decided to check it out. It has been a great resource. It's good to see other people struggle with the same problems and often come up with the same solutions or maybe a slightly different twist.

I actually inherited it from my predecessor. When I started here, the IT person set it up so that all of the previous HR person's e-mails were forwarded to me, and an automatic e-mail went out to the sender informing them of a new contact. Shortly there after, I received an e-mail from Christy offering to set up a new password to allow me to "take over" my predecessor's forum identity. I accepted, and have been glad every day that I did. What a phenomenal resource.

I found the forum on the website. I was very hesitant to chime in. I think I waited 2 to 3 months. I don't have time to look every day but I do go to this sight at least 2 X a week. I read more than I write on the forum. I too enjoy the ability to read about other industries that I have not been exposed to, especially the public sector (tough business).
This was a great idea. Thanks to all. See you around.

When I relocated from NJ to AZ, I knew I had to get up to speed on AZ laws. One of the tools I use is the AZ Employment Law Letter. When I received the first letter I tried the Forum and have been addicted ever since. Great resource and great people!

Believe it or not, I'm just about to have my first anniversary of belonging to The Forum. I don't remember how I found this door in the alley; but, I think it was reading one of those free monthly letters I get and I thought it was good and suscribed to it and a year later read about expanding the participation to some kind of online HR forum. They may want to rethink their advertising and open-door-policy after hearing how easily I penetrated.

I'm very new to the forum (5 days), but I keep up with all the news and advice through the Texas Employment Law Letter that my employer's HR office subscribes to. I always vistited the HRhero website and I knew about the forum, but only recently became an Employees' Forum member when I needed to seek some information and so I posted my question out there.

I'm trying to catch up on all the recent topics of discussion and I'm really enjoying the points of view, informative responses, and wittiness that you all share. I probably will not be as active as most of you, but I definetly tune in!

I found you through the Employment Law letter also. I have answered many questions by looking through previous question & answer posts. Thanks for all the knowledge! I am fairly new to the HR world also (well the general part, been in one specialization or another for about 4 years) and am glad to see that I am not the only one that has questions!
