We are considering purchasing HR software as our Payroll software, Solomon, seems a bit limited in this area. We need something, hopefully compatible with Solomon, that tracks training, leave of absence, vacation, etc., as well as providing a place to put comments. The comment section is very important to our HR Manager. She is familiar with Matchmaker and likes this aspect of it. Does it do everything else, though? Does anyone have any recommendations? I have heard good things about People Soft, but have also heard that it is quite expensive. We really need to keep the cost down. Any ideas on how to shop for software and evaluate our needs vs. software capability vs. price??? Thanks for your help!! I haven't seen this type of info covered anywhere else.

I've just begun using a program called Great Plains. I've liked it so far, but have no knowledge of any other to compare it tool. I don't know how reasonable the price is. Not much help, is it? Just wanted to give you another option!

We use Great Plains as our general ledger and financial tool. We used to use it for payroll until we decided to outsource. I have used it for about 15 years and their Dynamics product is very good. As a full accounting system, I think it is a little pricey, but since I produce all financial information in house for about 12 corporations with multiple reporting levels (except for tax returns) we feel it is worth it. The customization and capabilities are pretty good.

I believe Solomon was bought out by Great Plains about 1-1/2 yrs. ago.

Another package to look at is Abra. It's works with several packages although I don't remember if Solomon was one of them. Email me if you would like more information about my experience with this package.

I use Abra software and I really like. I used it as an HR assistant and when I joined my new company as the HR Coordinator we also purchased Abra HR. It is a little expensive but I think well worth it. You can go to their website [url]www.bestsoftware.com[/url]
