Pets are known to be stress reducers, and I understand some companies are allowing it as an incentive-type benefit. I have a special critter at home, but I would think twice...three times...before inviting that kind of trouble.
Never had a policy, but used to work in a mental health clinic where pet therapy was under discussion. Problem was many staff were allergic, some people were afraid of certain animals and then there is the issue of liabilty if a critter bites your favorite co-worker. i would avoid it.
the dc employment law letter did an article on this topic a last year...if you are a memeber of the employment law center, you can pull it up on the searchable data base... regards from dallas, mike maslanka
Yes, we do not allow them to bring them to work. I have the policy if you would like me to send it to you. If you are interested, feel free to contact me at larchetti@cyberdialogue.com
