Jury Duty - Paid or Unpaid

Hello forum! Just a general question on whether your company pays for jury duty. Our company does not and if they want paid for the time serving on jury duty, they must use their own vacation or personal time. Is this how other companies are handling jury duty requests? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

We pay them rheir regular wages for this civic duty time. We also allow them to keep any compensation they receive from the court for serving on the jury.
I know of other companies that pay the difference in what the court pays them and what they would have made on the job. You will probably find all kinds of answers.

In our shop, we pay them for the first week, after that, we just protect their job, but they can apply unused vacation time if the jury duty lasts for more than the week.

We "make up their loss" of wages for the first 2 weeks. Then we pay 1/2 of normal wages for the next 2 weeks and then "cut them off". You had better check your state. There are different laws in different states. Some require it or something like it.
Some states don't pay anything for serving. Most pay anywhere from $15-50 if selected.

We pay "jury duty" pay for jury duty and anyone subpeoned by the state as a witness - all considered civic duty. We do not make them turn in their payment from the state. They are required to come in to work if they are in court less than 1/2 the day.

We give our hourly workers five days/year; salaried people are paid if they work any part of the week; we do not dock their pay for this. We allow attendees to keep the money they receive from the court. We used to make them turn this in,but it was more of a hassle than it was worth.

We pay staff their regular wage but also ask them to turn in the pay they recieve for serving, but not the mileage pay. We actually don't come across this very often and have never had staff out for more than two days.

Wow. We allow them to use their vacation or personal days. If they don't have any vacation or personal days available, we do not compensate them.
