Cobra for dependents of deceased employee?

Do I need to offer Cobra benefits to dependents of deceased employee? Does cobra only apply to medical or does it apply to medical and dental.

Yes, offer COBRA benefits to the family members of the deceased. We offer COBRA for Dental and Medical. I don't know if dental is required, though. My guess is no. I'm sure someone will let you know.

COBRA is continuation of health benefits. This includes medical, dental and vision if the dependents were covered at the time of the employee's death. They can't elect coverage if they didn't already have it.

The other thing you need to be aware of, is that instead of being eligible for 18 of months coverage, dependents of the deceased are eligible for 36 months of COBRA coverage.
