We in-house as well. Part of me would LOVE to outsource FMLA, but the volume of work that goes with it would probably require me to give up a position in my dept. In a quick break-even analysis, I would estimate our cost for in-housing at apprx $30,000. Unless the vendor came in at less than 75% of that, I wouldn't consider the outsourcing worthwhile.
Seems like I saw somewhere that Ceridian manages FMLA for employers. Quite frankly, I don't see how it could possible work smoothly.
Let the rest of us know what you find if you don't mind.
We will be outsourcing our fmla starting in January through FMLA source, you can check out their website and see what they have to offer, its www.compsych.com
Gannett Newspapers outsources FMLA through AETNA and you talk to people in Pakistan trying to get it straight. My husband works for a local newspaper bought out by Gannett and I had to deal with them when he had surgery recently. They do FMLA and short term disability for the company.I would rather deal with local people, but last time he had an FMLA qualifying event the local HR people told me it wasn't necessary to do FMLA (his mother was on her deathbed in the ICU.) Maybe this is an improvement.
