Does an employer have to grant FMLA leave for pre-natal vists for an employee who is the spouse of the pregnet person? There are no known complications with the pregnacy at this time. Can we ask that the pre-natal vists be scheduled during non-work hours, if possible?

FMLA allows absences for serious health condition of a spouse. It is also required if an individual is required to provide emotional care and comfort. I don't believe that merely being needed to transport is considered care and comfort. Why does he want/need to accompany his wife? From the information given, it doesn't appear to me to be an FMLA absence.
