Placement of foster child

Situation: employee is on FLMA due to placement of foster child.
Question: what type of recertification (if any) should company require?

I don't understand what you mean by recertification? My understanding is that an employee would receive up to 12 weeks of FMLA for placement of a foster child - (the same as bonding with a biological child). Hope I am understanding the question correctly.

Rockie's right. Recert is only necessary in the case of illnesses. The ee is entitled to the max for the placement of the foster child, as long as the child is still in that same home.

It's my understanding that if a foster child is placed, recertifcation that the placement is continuing can be requested.

I don't know if there's a 'normal' or 'average' placement time in such cases. I certainly would not diminish myself in the eyes of the employee by insisting on a recert unless there was SOME reason to wonder about the continuation of the placement.
