Pay for P/T time off for W.C.?

An employee fell at work (worker's comp claim) and now needs time off to go to physical therapy 2-3 times a week. Do you pay your employee for the time she is off work? NJ w.c. does not pay unless the ee is out 7 consecutive days. Also, do you pay for the 7 days?

We require our EEs to utilize their leave banks. Otherwise, we will not pay when they are not on the clock.

Same here. We pay for the day of the injury to the end of their shift. Subsequent treatments are either PTO or no pay.

Same here. We pay for the rest of the day that accident occurred, and after that, the employee uses their leave bank. If no leave in leave bank, employee is without pay. We run concurrent with FMLA.

We only pay for the first day of the injury. WC absences immediately count against FMLA or non-FMLA leave (if under 12 months of employment). We do allow the EE to choose unpaid time, vacaton or PTO. NH WC starts paying on the 4th day unless the EE is out for 14 days or returns to work within 5 days on light duty, then it pays back to the beginning.

I worked at one company where we use to pay for WC appts, but people took advantage of this.

We are non union. We pay for the rest of the day of injury. Also, if employee is out for an hour or so for dr./pt apts., we pay for this (under a special payroll code so we can gather this info as well as not pay OT on it.) However, we "encourage employees" to make apts. as early or as late as possible. Some get out at 2:30 so are able to go by on way home. We do not pay full day elimination period. (Most states pay the employee this is they are out for an extended period of time. We feel that paying for a day or so encourages an employee to take time off. They can take some of their time off if they wish to do this. E Wart

A question for those who do not pay for time missed for physical therapy: Do you account for that time off as lost time on your OSHA report? I would think it has to be. We do pay for p/t and doctor appointments but also encourage scheduling at the beginning or end of the day. Oh and our employees are union members, but that hasn't been an issue.

It's taken as sick time or scheduled around... there is no lost time for it here.
