Emergency / Distaster Plan

My small company has no written disaster plan document. However, we think it's time to write one which includes IT issues, personnel, etc.

Can someone share their policy or point me to a website where a sample policy may be found?

Try the Homeland Security website as well as your state government. They have great resources. We're actually working on one and that's where I've found some good information!

I am the HR Coordinator for a small company and have been asked by a large customer to provide an Avian Flu Preparedness Plan.

Plus they list what disasters (flood, earthquake etc) most likely in your area. Feel free to look at my county's site at [url]http://www.kitsapdem.org/[/url] . Also try the FEMA site.

specifically for your company will take some effort on your part, many resources are out there.

I can't believe that no one on the HR Hero staff has plugged our new book, "Workplace Catastrophes: x:o An Employer's Guide to Workplace Violence, Terrorism, and Natural Disasters."

I haven't seen the book yet, but from looking at the web page it seems to focus a lot on the legal issues that arise from a disaster. I imagine the other resources that people suggested will focus more on practical matters.

Our disaster plan deals strictly with hurricanes. It's a work in progress and we update it every spring. We're a operating foundation and don't have customers to keep supplied. If anyone wants a copy e-mail me at [email]hr@starkadmin.org[/email].
