We are setting our holiday list for 2006. For those giving two days at Christmas (Mon. Dec. 25), what two days are you giving? Also, is anyone giving Mon. & Tue. July 3 AND 4?

The November HR Hero Survey on Holidays is in progress right now. You might find the questions & answers relevant to making decisions for next year. Over 2,000 people have answered the survey so far, and the results will be published in next week's HR Hero Line.
You can take the survey here:

And at the end of the survey, you can sign up for HR Hero Line to get notified of the results.

New Years - Monday and Tuesday
July 4th - Tuesday only
January 2nd for sure. If we get the 3rd, a memo will be circulated. Will probably go home early that Friday before.
July 4th for sure. If we get the 3rd, a memo will be circulated or we may go home early.
During the summer months, we are allowed to go home at 1:00 on Fridays.

2006 holidays will be:
Christmas: 12/25 & 12/26 (12/26 instead of 12/24)
July 4: 7/3 & 7/4
This is how most companies I know have figured their holidays. This year one department wants to have the 23 instead of the 26 and they do not want to be closed on the 2nd of January.
I am needing to justify my rule for figuring holidays when they fall on the weekends.
Does anyone here follow the same rule and is anyone going to be open on January 2nd?
Thanks

We usually will get a comp day to use before December 31st. If it is not used by the end of the year, then we are paid for that day in January of the following year along with unused sick/personal days.

November 24 - Thanksgiving Holiday
December 26 - Christmas Holiday
January 2 - New Years Holiday
In 2006, we're giving the 1/2 day for Xmas Eve on Fri, 22 Dec, plus Xmas Day (Mon).
So we'll also be giving N.Y.Eve on Fri, 29 Dec, as well as N.Y. Day.
We are not giving Mon, 3 July, as a holiday.
