I have rec'd an email stating that the I-9's have been updated for the first time since '91 I think. Stating that we need to order new ones of course. Have any of you rec'd this and are you aware of the changes if they exsist. Of course they don't send you a copy to compare with the one I am using now to verify. Is this a sales gimic or for real? Thanks in advance.

The I-9 form at the website is still dated 11/1/91 so I don't think it has been updated.

The email I received stated they would not be available for mailing until December 2004 as the I-9 is new for 2005. I don't know if it is a gimic or not. Definitely use the site listed in a prior post to download the form for free. Don't pay for them.

After carefully counting provisionary ballots....err, I mean carefully researching this issue, here's what I've found:

1. The only guidance of an official nature on the new I-9 I could find is at the very bottom of this document:

I'm with the majority on this one. Don't sweat it, wait until official guidance is disseminated and then download the form free of charge.

Actually, I got that too but found out that the new part is that certain forms of id are not acceptable any longer. They are
In Column A #2 Certificat of U.s. Citizenship (INS Form N-560 or N-561), #3 Certificat of Naturalization (INS Form N-550 or N-570), #5 INS form I-151, #8 Unexpired Reentry Permit (INS fomr I-327) and #9 INS Form I-571) Hope this helps. Have a good day!

I also received the same advertisement. The govt. was planning to update this year, so it sounds as though that has happened. However, I went to the DOL website and they do not have the new form posted yet. I am waiting for their posting to download and then I will use.

I got that e-advertisement and ignored it when I couldn't find the new form on the INS website. A couple weeks later, my administrator forwarded the same thing to me in a panic that we needed to order them. I called the INS (or whatever they are called now) to get the real scoop. They said that the form is scheduled for revision, the drafts are scheduled for this month, but that nothing has been finalized. Their suggestion was to check their website about once a month and look for the new form. ([url]http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/form/index/htm[/url]) It will be available there before everywhere else, and it will be free. The agent I spoke with was quite sure there would be a blurb on their homepage when it comes out, as well.
