We will close the building on Monday, July 5th to recognize Independence Day and close the building December 24th to recognize Christmas. Both days are paid holidays.
A Saturday holiday is celebrated on the Friday; the Sunday one, on the Monday for departments that operate on a Monday through Friday work week. (Since we are a 24/7 operation, areas that are not the Monday through Friday work schedule celebrate the holidays on the actual days on which they occur.)
We are observing the Friday before, if the holiday is on a Saturday, and the Monday after if the holiday is on a Sunday. Seems to be a trend as I've heard friends/family talking about the same thing.
We are closing Friday July 2 for Independence day and December 24 for Christmas. We are also closing December 31 for New Years and that will "count" towards the 2005 holiday schedule.

This year (with union approval) we traded Columbus day for the day after Christmas. So employees will have a 4 day weekend.
