Guess I had best jump on this band wagon also. I usually get very good information from our insurance provider, but this new HIPPA stuff seems to be lagging behind. Thank you, Dutch
I might as well join the other desperados. Could you email me the checklist as well to kbraziller@syda.org. We're one of the self-insurers so I'm afraid I have a tougher row to hoe.
I just put a posting out there asking for a copy. I'd greatly appreciate it if one could be emailed to me at carole.owen@bgfh.com Thanks very much
The HIPAA privacy regulations are difficult and complex especially if you self insure. There is an "Employer's Guide to HIPAA Privacy Requirements" put out by Thompson Publishing Group. This is a notebook of several hundred pages with monthly supplements dedicated to this subject of privacy.
Web site is www.thompson.com and the Customer Care # is 1-800-677-3789. David Slaughter is the editor of this book and he can be reached at 202-739-9551.
Why in the world would it take 'several hundred pages' with 'monthly updates' to define record privacy? I knew somebody would get rich off the new regs. Lawyers and publishers, as usual.
In case there are any HR people left in the United States who haven't received Linda's fax yet, I'm compiling a HIPAA last-minute checklist for HR Hero Line, our e-mail newsletter. HIPAA is such a monster, it seems that a complete HIPAA privacy checklist would have to be a hundred pages long, which is 98 more than I can write.
Anyhoo, my modest effort will be in Friday morning's HR Hero Line. If you don't get HR Hero Line, you can sign up for free. If you're an Employment Law Letter subscriber, click here: http://www.hrhero.com/signup/
I am so sorry to post so late and ask as well. Linda, if you have the time or if you've hired someone full time to do this fax for you, could you send me one? 617.661.1580 attn: Cristina Seriously, how are you keeping up with the demand?
In case anyone might be interested for HIPAA Home Health compliance, I have gotten the policies, forms and the Patient Privacy Notice completed, and staff is already implementing the process. Let me know if you are interested.
- We also sent out an "HR Hero Line NewsAlert," which we do when really big news happens. In this case, it was the DOL proposing new regulations on FLSA exemptions. That's probably what you saw.
- Lastly but not leastly, we sent out a message telling people about an audio conference that we're presenting to explain the new FLSA regs. We've been planning this for a while, waiting for the regulations to come out. http://www.hrhero.com/conference/audio.shtml

- There was last Friday's edition of the weekly e-zine, which covered HIPAA. You can find it here:
