We are in manufacturing and we are closed. It doesn't make sense for us to close our machines down for a day, and then start them up again for a day, only to close down again for the weekend. We have 11 holidays per year that we move around depending on where the holidays fall. This year both the 4th and 5th are paid holidays.
We are a large medical practice open every day but Sunday, with few exceptions. The 4th, however, is a paid holiday.
Quick Survey: How many of you allow paid holidays for employees still within their 90-day introductory period?
How many of you withhold holiday pay from any employee absent the day before or after a holiday if they are scheduled to work...no prior approval of leave?
We pay holidays within 90 day probation period. We do not pay for holidays if anyone misses the day before or after a holiday (not previously scheduled).
We pay the holiday starting immediately upon hire. We also pay the holiday as long as someone is in "paid status" the day before OR after the holiday. By paid status that would include regular hours, vacation, sick, jury duty, etc. It would not include someone on a LOA.
We are a manufacturer. We haven't decided if we will have our offices open on the 5th. Our plant will be open, we run a weekend shift so they will be working.
We do not give holiday pay if the employee is in their 90 day probation period or if they miss the day before or after the holiday unless it is prearranged.
Since we are currently slow, we are considering closing on July 5th. However, I think we will wait until the middle of June before we will make a decision based on our workload at that time.
We are a private non-profit and are open on July 5th. We pay holidays for those on their introductory period, but all must work the scheduled workday before or after the holiday in order to receive the pay.
We are coordinating schedules to allow employees to work Sunday, or extra time M - W to still have a full pay week and take Friday off work. The manufacturing and business unit will still operate, but with minimal staff.
We are 24/7 and we never shut down. Our hourly employees receive holiday pay from day one of employment of one additional hours pay for every hour worked - but you have to be on the clock. If you don't work that day there is no pay. The only true holiday our employees have is their birthday - they receive a straight 8 if not worked, holiday pay if it's worked. Exempt personnel have paid holidays. Our administrative offices will be closed on the 4th, but probably open on the 5th.
