Employee Earnings while on social security

Help! Does anyone know what the ceiling is for earnings while collecting social security? We have an older part time employee who is not sure how much she can earn per year without getting into trouble with the SSA.

There's a booklet you can get from the Bureau of Business Practice, a division of Aspen Publisher, Inc. For order information call 1-800-638-8437. I got a free booklet somehow which is titled "How the New 2001 Social Security Changes Affect You." It's got a lot of information.

As of January 2000, the Earnings Limitation was eliminated for those age 65 or older. This Senior Citizens' Freedom to Work Act of 2000 was signed into law in April 2000.

I checked the website for Social Security ([url]http://www.ssa.gov/[/url]). The FAQ section has that specific question (question#19) addressed as clearly as I've seen it anywhere. There are several "if's" and "and's" like their age at retirement that can change the answer.
